PM Dahal Receives Invitation from UN Secretary General to Attend 'Summit of the Future'

Kathmandu: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has received an invitation from UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to attend the 'Summit of the Future' scheduled for September in the United States.

The invitation was handed over to PM Dahal by UN Resident Representative in Nepal, Hanna Singer-Hamdy, during a meeting on Thursday, as reported by PM's press advisor, Manahari Timilsina.

Expressing his gratitude, PM Dahal thanked the UN Secretary General for his visit to Nepal and for acknowledging the country's climate challenges. Dahal conveyed his positive inclination towards participating in the summit.

Singer-Hamdy highlighted Nepal's significant contributions to the UN's peacekeeping efforts and emphasized the importance of Nepal's participation in the summit to demonstrate its initiatives in combating climate change impacts.

The 'Summit of the Future,' organized by the UN, is set to address contemporary global challenges, including climate change and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and will be held on September 22-23.
